HDCP
technologyHigh-bandwidth Digital Content Protection — copy protection that secures the connection between streaming devices and displays.
Explanation
HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is a form of DRM that protects digital video and audio as it travels between devices, for example between a streaming stick and a TV over HDMI. Streaming services require HDCP-compliant connections to play HD and 4K content. If a non-HDCP device is in the chain (like an HDMI splitter or an older monitor), playback may be blocked or dropped to SD resolution.
